Wall Sound Proofing
Soundproofing is the process of blocking sound transmission from one space to another. Unlike acoustic treatment (which enhances sound inside a room), soundproofing prevents sound from entering or leaving. Walls are major transmission paths for noise, so reinforcing them is key

How Sound Travels Through Walls
Sound travels via:
Airborne transmission (voices, TV, music)
Structure-borne transmission (footsteps, drilling, bass)
A standard drywall wall has a Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 30–34, which means you’ll hear almost everything clearly from the other side.

Soundproofing Tips
Start with shared walls (bedroom/living room walls).
Use acoustic caulk around outlets, cracks, and trims.
For retrofits, MLV and Green Glue can be added over existing drywall.
Door and window seals are often overlooked—always treat those too
Example Wall Assembly (High Performance)
Double 12mm gypsum board
Green Glue between layers
Mineral wool insulation in cavity
Resilient channel mounting
Acoustic sealant at all gaps
Optional: Add MLV layer
